New Testament People For Kids

Jesus Christ

Who He Is:

Jesus is God’s Son and our best friend! He came to save us because He loves us so much. He was born as a baby (think Christmas!), grew up to teach people about God, died on the cross for our sins, and came back to life. One day, He’ll come back again!

Scripture:

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Lesson:

Jesus loves you no matter what! When you pray, He listens, and He helps you be kind and brave.

Mary, Mother of Jesus

Who She Is:

Mary was Jesus’ mommy! God picked her to take care of baby Jesus. She was there when He was born and even when He died on the cross.

Scripture:

Luke 1:38 – Mary said, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.”

Lesson:

Mary said “yes” to God. You can trust God too, even when things seem big or scary!

Joseph

Who He Is:

Joseph was like Jesus’ dad on earth. He took care of Mary and baby Jesus, even traveling with a donkey to keep them safe.

Scripture:

Matthew 1:20 – An angel told Joseph, “Don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the baby is from God.”

Lesson:

Joseph obeyed God and protected his family. You can help your family too by being kind and helpful!

John the Baptist

Who He Is:

John was Jesus’ cousin who told everyone, “Get ready! Jesus is coming!” He baptized people in a river and loved lambs (a sign of Jesus).

Scripture:

Matthew 3:3 – “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord.’”

Lesson:

John shared good news about Jesus. You can tell your friends about Jesus too!

Peter (Simon Peter)

Who He Is:

Peter was Jesus’ friend and a fisherman. Jesus gave him keys to help lead His church. He told lots of people about Jesus after He went to heaven.

Scripture:

Matthew 16:18 – Jesus said, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church.”

Lesson:

Peter wasn’t perfect, but Jesus used him. God can use you too, even if you make mistakes!

Mary Magdalene

Who She Is:

Mary Magdalene was a friend of Jesus. She saw Him alive again after He died and told everyone the good news!

Scripture:

John 20:18 – “Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: ‘I have seen the Lord!’”

Lesson:

Mary was brave to share what she saw. You can be brave and tell the truth too!

Paul

Who He Is:

Paul started out not liking Jesus, but then Jesus changed his heart! He traveled everywhere, writing letters to teach people about God.

Scripture:

Acts 9:15 – God said, “Paul is my chosen instrument to tell people about me.”

Lesson:

Paul shows us God can change anyone. You can learn and grow every day!

James (Brother of Jesus)

Who He Is:

James was Jesus’ brother and a leader in the church. He wrote a letter telling people to live like Jesus.

Scripture:

James 1:22 – “Do not merely listen to the word… Do what it says.”

Lesson:

James says to not just hear about God, but do good things too—like sharing and helping!

Timothy

Who He Is:

Timothy was a young helper to Paul. He loved reading God’s words and teaching others, even though he was young.

Scripture:

2 Timothy 1:5 – “I know you have faith, just like your grandma and mom.”

Lesson:

Timothy shows you’re never too young to love God and help others!

John of Patmos

Who He Is:

John saw a big vision from God about heaven and wrote it in a book called Revelation. He saw Jesus as a strong king!

Scripture:

Revelation 1:1 – “The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants.”

Lesson:

John reminds us Jesus is coming back someday. We can look forward to being with Him forever!
