Bible Stories 16-week plan

Month 1: Creation and New Beginnings

Week 1: Creation (Genesis 1-2, OT)
In the very beginning, there was nothing but God. Then God said, “Let’s make something amazing!” He made light and called it day, then made the dark night. He made the blue sky, the green land, and the big, splashy oceans. He filled the world with twinkly stars, a bright sun, and a glowing moon. Then came the fun part—animals! Birds flew, fish swam, and lions roared. Finally, God made people—Adam and Eve—to be His friends and take care of everything. God looked at it all and said, “Wow, this is good!” He made the world because He loves us so much.
Week 2: The Birth of Jesus (Luke 2:1-20, NT)
A long time ago, a girl named Mary and a man named Joseph had to take a trip to Bethlehem. Mary was going to have a baby—God’s Son! There was no room in any house, so they stayed in a stable with animals. That night, baby Jesus was born, wrapped in soft cloth, and laid in a manger. Angels sang, “Good news! The Savior is here!” Shepherds ran to see Him, and a big, shiny star led wise men to visit too. Jesus came as a tiny baby to bring love and joy to everyone.
Week 3: Adam and Eve (Genesis 3, OT)
Adam and Eve lived in a beautiful garden God made just for them. They could eat anything except fruit from one special tree. But one day, a sneaky snake tricked Eve. She ate the fruit and shared it with Adam. They disobeyed God, and that made them feel sad and scared. God still loved them, but they had to leave the garden. Even though they made a mistake, God promised to take care of them and fix things one day. He never stopped loving them!
Week 4: Jesus’s Baptism (Matthew 3:13-17, NT)

In the very beginning, there was nothing but God. Then God said, “Let’s make something amazing!” He made light and called it day, then made the dark night. He made the blue sky, the green land, and the big, splashy oceans. He filled the world with twinkly stars, a bright sun, and a glowing moon. Then came the fun part—animals! Birds flew, fish swam, and lions roared. Finally, God made people—Adam and Eve—to be His friends and take care of everything. God looked at it all and said, “Wow, this is good!” He made the world because He loves us so much.

Month 2: Covenants and Promises

Week 5: Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6-9, OT)

A long time ago, people forgot about God, but Noah loved Him. God told Noah, “Build a big boat
because a big rain is coming.” Noah built the ark and brought his family and two of every animal—elephants, giraffes, even tiny bugs! It rained and rained, but everyone inside was safe. When the water went away, Noah saw a rainbow in the sky. God said, “This is My promise—I’ll
never flood the whole earth again.” Noah thanked God for keeping them safe.

Week 6: The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7, NT)
One day, Jesus sat on a hill with a big crowd. He told them how to live God’s way. “Be kind,” He said. “Love others, even when it’s hard. Pray to God like He’s your friend.” He taught them a special prayer and said, “You’re like a light—shine bright for God!” Jesus wanted everyone to know God loves them and wants them to love each other too. His words were like a treasure for their hearts.
Week 7: Abraham’s Promise (Genesis 12, 15, 17, OT)
Abraham was a man who listened to God. God said, “Leave your home and go where I show you. I’ll give you a big family—more than the stars!” Abraham trusted God and went on a long trip. One night, God showed him the starry sky and said, “Count them if you can—that’s how big your family will be!” Abraham believed God, and years later, God kept His promise with a son named Isaac. God always keeps His promises!
Week 8: The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-23, NT)
Jesus told a story about a farmer who planted seeds. Some fell on a path, and birds ate them—yum! Some fell on rocks and couldn’t grow. Others got stuck in thorny weeds. But some seeds fell on good dirt and grew into big, strong plants. Jesus said, “God’s words are like seeds. When you listen with your heart, they grow big inside you!” He wanted us to hear God’s love and let it make us strong.

Month 3: Leadership and Service

Week 9: Moses and the Exodus (Exodus 3-14, OT)
Moses was watching sheep when God spoke from a burning bush, “Go help My people—they’re stuck in Egypt!” Moses was nervous, but God said, “I’ll be with you.” Moses went to the king and said, “Let God’s people go!” After big miracles—like frogs, bugs, and a sea splitting open—Moses led the people out. They walked through the water to freedom! God used Moses to show He’s stronger than anything
Week 10: Washing the Disciples’ Feet (John 13:1-17, NT)
One night, Jesus had dinner with His friends. He surprised them by taking a bowl of water and washing their dusty feet. They said, “Jesus, you’re our leader—why do this?” Jesus smiled and said, “I’m showing you how to love. Help each other, even in little ways.” He wanted them to know that serving others is the best way to show God’s love. Jesus was their friend and teacher!
Week 11: David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17, OT)
David was a young shepherd who loved God. A giant named Goliath scared everyone, saying, “Fight me!” Nobody wanted to, but David said, “God will help me.” With just a sling and five stones, David ran toward Goliath—zip!—and hit him right in the forehead. Goliath fell down, and everyone cheered! David was brave because he trusted God to be with him, no matter how big the problem.
Week 12: The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37, NT)
Jesus told a story about a man who got hurt on a road. Two people walked by and didn’t help. Then a stranger—a Samaritan—stopped. He cleaned the man’s cuts, put him on his donkey, and took him to a safe place. Jesus said, “Be like the Samaritan. Help anyone who needs you, even if they’re different.” He showed us that loving our neighbors means being kind to everyone

Month 4: Faithfulness and Redemption

Week 13: Daniel in the Lion’s Den (Daniel 6, OT)
Daniel loved God and prayed to Him every day. Some mean men got mad and told the king, “Throw Daniel to the lions!” The king did, but God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths. The next morning, Daniel was safe! The king said, “Your God is amazing!” Daniel trusted God, even when it was scary, and God protected him like a big hug.
Week 14: Jesus’s Resurrection (Matthew 28:1-10, NT)
After Jesus died on the cross, His friends were sad. But three days later, women went to His tomb and saw an angel! The angel said, “Jesus isn’t here—He’s alive!” The big stone was rolled away, and Jesus appeared, smiling. He beat death and showed everyone that God’s love wins. Jesus’s friends were so happy—He was back, and everything was new!
Week 15: Jonah and the Whale (Jonah 1-4, OT)
God told Jonah, “Go tell Nineveh to be good.” Jonah didn’t want to, so he ran away on a boat. A big storm came, and Jonah got swallowed by a giant fish—gulp! Inside, Jonah said, “I’m sorry, God.” After three days, the fish spit him out. Jonah obeyed this time, and Nineveh listened. God forgave Jonah and the people, showing He loves second chances.
Week 16: The Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20, NT)
After Jesus came back to life, He met His friends on a hill. He said, “Go tell everyone about Me—everywhere in the world! I’ll be with you always.” Jesus wanted everyone to know God loves them and sent His friends to share the good news. They were excited to tell the story, and we can tell it too—Jesus is our forever friend!
